German language classes
MPI-INF offers German language classes at several levels for their employees. Classes are held in our building, room 022, ground floor. They start with every new university Semester, i.e. each April (summer semester) or October (winter semester) and are free of charge, also for spouses. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Jennifer Gerling.
Here are some places other than at our institute where you can learn German in Saarbrücken:
- Volkshochschule (VHS), a public adult education center
VHS is near the Schloss. Usually there is a booklet on the "New Books" shelf in the library that shows what courses are being offered at the VHS. They offer courses for various levels and with varying intensities, two nights a week for two hours or four days a week for four and a half hours.
- Volkshochschule (VHS), a public adult education center
Haller Schule (Private)
In Bahnhofstrasse, good, but somewhat expensive.
SZSB
The Sprachenzentrum here on campus has excellent facilities and offers courses in several languages, including English. As the SZSB primarily serves the needs of students at the University of Saarland, no German courses are offered.
Akademisches Auslandsamt (University Saarbruecken):
Offers courses during the semester break for beginners (complete beginners). This course is for students wanting to learn German more intensively. The course is a big commitment (24 hours/week). The intensive courses are offered in March and October.
See UdS website for updated info; i.e., their courses offered during the semester.
