Despite being near the city center, this location is of a quiet, suburban style. Two bigger supermarkets are just around the corner (opening hours: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. from Mon. - Sat.).

You can bring a basic supply of pots and pans, cutlery, dishes, bed clothing (including fitted sheets, sheets and blanket) with you but you can also buy these items at the department store "tedox" which is within walking distance (just follow the main road "Dudweilerlandstrasse" in the direction of the city center and turn right opposite the gas station).

!!Tenants should have a third party liability insurance coverage when moving in!!

Washing machine/dryer: Located on the parking lot (below surface) and shared by all tenants. There are 3 machines available and labelled with numbers: Please insert money in the coin-operated machine. Choose the wash cycle and allow some minutes for the machine to heat up (since it is connected to a cold-water tap, the water has to reach its temperature before the program can start).

Since January 2013, everyone has to pay television, radio and computer fees to the Gebühreneinzugszentrale or GEZ . Registration forms are available at the post office or internet.

Procedure for renting a flat there: (Important: After arriving, do immediately enter into a third-party liability insurance!! Please see Roxane for details)

  1. Please tell us which size of flat you want to rent and we will inquire aboutthe flat's availability.
  2. You get the leaseagreement and fill in your:
      • date of birth
      • passport number
      • signature
  3. When moving in, you have to meet with the building's residential manager, Mrs. Stillenmunkes, in the flat for
      • an inventory of the rooms
      • getting flat- and mailbox keys
      • reading the electrical meters
      • arranging for electricity
      • getting written confirmation that you are a resident of the building (to present when registering with the local registration office
  4. Settle payment of rent and deposit by transfer to the landlord's bank account; the bank details are stated in the lease. You can set up a Standing Order at your bank or by online banking. Please note that the landlord is not allowed to deduct the rent from your bank account, therefore please arrange payment by yourself.

If you wish to prolong tenancy, please inform us in advance so that we can arrange a lease extension. In case you wish to move before the end of the tenancy period, check the date your tenancy started and allow a period of notice of 2 weeks. Ask Roxane to give notice to the building's management a.s.a.p.

Procedure of moving out:
Arrange an appointment with the building's manager one day before you move out so that she can:

      • check the flat's condition and take the inventory
      • take the final reading of the electrical meters in the cellar
      • collect the keys from you
      • let you sign the termination of contract for the company supplying you with electricity

If your tenancy was for a longer period, please take into account that the walls will need painting, and since
tenants are not allowed to paint the walls themselves, an amount of 100 euros (for painting the 21m^2 and 28 m^2 sized flats) must be paid in cash when moving out.

The final bill includes:

      1. the final clean-out costs which you can keep to a minimum by leaving the flat and fridge thoroughly cleaned
      2. possible liabilities regarding rent and electricity


The sum of this final bill will be withheld from the deposit and the rest transferred back to your account.
